If you are at involved with the #sqlfamily, you are bound to hear about the benefits of social media platforms such as Twitter. It's price starts at free. Unlike advertising, broadcast media and even a web site it offers the opportunity to engage people in a real-time two-way interaction. In that case, Hootsuite is more suitable. They are sometimes likened to a river or waterfall, referring to the cascade of tweets/posts flowing down your screen. Sendible helps teams collaborate on managing social networks, schedule messages, engage audiences, and measure ROI right from one easy-to-use dashboard.
One of the tools I use to tweet, is Better TweetDeck. Notifications can show when new messages appear in a column. Inevitably there are other companies racing to develop the killer application that makes dealing with this easy. Obviously, a Tweetdeck-emulating app can't go wrong in terms of UI.
