من مفارقات قرائتي لهذا الكتاب أنني بدأته في انتظار طبيب وأنهيته في انتظار طبيب آخر، وفي كلتا الحالتين حمدت الله أنني لم أولد في عصور كانت تعتبر المرض غضبا إلهيا وصاحبه منبوذ غارق في الآثام؛ ولا في عصر "كل ما يسبب مشكلة أو تعتقد أنه يسبب لجسد المريض مشكلة، استخدم مبضعك وأزله. This is particularly valuable as many of us who are wondering where the Canadian health care system is heading, can get at least an overview from this text of how our current system developed.

و لما دخلت الكليه بقيت مستغربه جدا طيب ليه مش الطب و الاطفال مثلا اشمعنى الجراحة ،، بس قريت فى كتاب عن تاريخ الطب ، ان زمان جدا ايام ابو قراط و جالينوس قبل ٢٠ قرن من الزمن تقريبا ان الطبيب بعلمه عن الامراض و طبيعية الجسم التشريحيه و الفسيولوجيه اعلى علما و قدرا من الجراح الى كان بيشتغل كحرفى تحت اشراف الطبيب و انه لايعلم شئ عن الطب و الوانه ،، و لما قامت الثورات فى فرنسا فى القرن ال ١٨ و ب, دايما كنت بستغرب لما الاقى حد كاتب انه حاصل على بكالوريوس الطب و الجراحة ، و ليه فاصلين الطب عن الجراحة ! I probably just read this at the wrong time - at the start of my degree I would have found it really useful (this sounds pretentious af and it's not meant to but I'm pretty sure nobody reads these except me xo). Science and medical authors sometimes get bogged down in the objects that they're focusing on, but Bynum communicates a story of medicine that is entirely social, built by personalities who mostly believed in their own egos over the health of patients. تاريخي مره ، لسى يعتبر الفصل الاول ما اقدر احكم عالكتاب كامل يمكن الاقي معلومات مميزه في الفصول الجايه ، انا ما احب التاريخ العميق اللي زي كدا فأعتبرته عادي ماكان مميز .. احب التاريخ اللي يضيف لي واقدر اخد منه عبره او اصحح مفهوم واقدر امشي عليه كقاعده او نظريه زي مثلاً السيرة النبويه ،، اما دا الكتاب بيحكي كيف بدأ الطب ومن ايت قرن وكيف اتطور مالقيت في الفصل اللي قرأته انه في شي ملفت او شي ملهم امشي عليه واطبقه الان بالنسبه ليا حسيت انه ما افادني ..ما اكملت قراءه الكتاب كامل.
