The hook length must be slightly shorter than the weight line! No more pin whiting or pouting hanging on to my pulley rigs without even knowing and potentially waisting 20 minutes of fishing time unless your lucky enough to then get walloped by a big fish on your now live bait! "you should have been here last night - there was fish everywhere............", what are you targeting ? I uploaded instructions for that exact rig about 9-10 months ago.

Hiya again Mr D M, at the mo on my up & overs my rig bodies are anything between 3 & 5ft long which allows me to use hooklengths upto 8 or 9ft long. If you have a look at the Totally Awesome Fishing Channel on You Tube there is an episode called Big Cod, Winter Beach Fishing dated 4/12/15. I use clear Greased Weasel for my hooklength in minimum 50lb b/s as i pick up a few good Huss on my Ray sessions & they soon make a bollox of lighter line. A forum community dedicated to fishing and boat owners and enthusiasts. Hook wise Sakuma Manta's or Varivas Big Mouths in sizes 4/0 or 5/0. If you look at clipped running ledgers they are invariable clipped up at the top of the rig, obviously not good for aerodynamics and casting. However, each rig design and its dimensions offer separate advantages and these should be considered in relation to conditions, venues and the species sought. After my return to the seasonal circuit last year I had nothing worth photographing on the pulley rig and it wasn’t until reuniting with my mentor Martin Larkin that things changed. corect me if im wrong but i thought a paternoster is a main rig with the weight at the bottom and the trace swivel is located on the main then of course the hook is at the end of the trace then you clip the hook down during the cast ?

Might knock myself a few up for my Ray sessions & see how they fare against the Up & Overs i normally use. “walk along any beach and most Anglers will be using pulley rigs, I don’t know anyone who uses the Running pat, I go on percentages, it will in my opinion out fish most rigs when fish are shy on feeding.
