If you are looking for space the whole family can enjoy while on holiday, then look no further than our Family Cabin. I know it's probably wrong but I've done it heaps of time. Watch the assumption that a "private bathroom" means its a bathroom in your room.. OP, I would just not tell them, or book somewhere else and ring them up and tell them they lost your business because of the baby charge.
It could be across the hall or even in a small place on a different floor. I've found that sometimes online booking wont allow you to add the baby but if you call reception directly to book they will allow it.
Have you phoned the hotel or are you booking on line. But if your non-napping preschooler needs to turn in earlier, you could do baby’s bedtime routine in the living room before quietly tucking her in. By clicking “Accept”, you consent to the use of ALL the cookies. If the OP want to flout the law and sneak her baby in SHE can do that, all she is risking is a grumpy look from the desk clerk - if the hotel deliberately flout the law they are risking their licence to trade and their whole business... My DP is a fireman - these rules are there for a very good reason, it is not a sneaky way for hotels to try and make an extra buck. Is there a private bath? Good point. Yes it is an OH&S and insurance issue - as PP have mentioned in the event of an incident I'd want emergency services looking for all of us - not just the 4 that supposed to be int he room. YodaTheWrinkledOne FWIW, now that Countrymel has explained I understand the licensing requirement, I would still sneak my baby in and not say anything to the motel. I can't see why a hotel room for four with an added baby is much different but I would ask the hotel. I have stayed in hotels with rooms with private bathrooms.. but the bathrooms were not in your room.
Otherwise I have to get an ajoining room which is about $150. I'll give the hotel a call and explain the situation. It's always a shock. And with all the growth and development happening, sleep is especially important.
How standard is standard will depend on the overall standards of the establishment eg the Ritz as against a Premier Inn. Since I already prepaid for the hotel they would not refund us our money. The room layout just says maximum of 4 people in the room. Ie the cot cannot block walkways in the event of an emergency.
Believe it or not, some kids prefer having a roommate. Only a ginger can call a ginger a ginger. I just feel terribly guilty about sneaking but it's only an overnight stay.... Just wanted to know what others would have done. When I enquired about the baby they said an extra room would cost the same but I get a 10% discount.
We've always been upfront with motels & they've said that if baby/toddler was to use our own bedding (portacot) or existing bedding (co-sleeping) there's no extra charge. Most won't care. It's because the pricing for these sailings has dropped so low this year on the 1st/2nd that the set 3/4 pricing ended up higher. I'd make sure the hotel know there is a baby.
