The Bishop’s School was established in 1909 by Ellen Browning Scripps, Eliza Virginia Scripps and The Right Reverend Joseph Horsfall Johnson (then Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles), all of whom shared a vision of the importance of intellectually rigorous education.
