If I’m really having some light issues I’ll switch to my 50mm or 85mm so I can have a fstop around 1.8. Burst mode often helps get the best shot out of a move/position etc especially with the lighting and smoke constantly changing and the performers are moving around. So, I'm going to state that if you love photographing live music as much as I do, continue doing it and maybe try to figure out how to make money off it. If you want, it wouldn't hurt to start offering videography as a service alongside your photos, since those seem to be higher in demand these days. Now you need to edit the image and balance the colors to your liking.
I never discourage aspiring photographers. Good advice about minimal gear, I didn't think about how it would effect crowd maneuverability!
